Swan Song

The past few months has brought an unexpected twist for me as I now recover from an unexpected bout of ill health. This has made me reflect upon my life and family and as a result, I’m hanging up my cameras and hoping to hand over the reins of Glow Studios Photography to someone great very soon. This beautiful Southern Downs wedding was the perfect wedding for me to finish on. Having photographed the bride’s family portraits a few years back, I was touched to be asked to photograph the wedding of Alicia & Matthew. The day was picture perfect and filled with so much love from friends and family. Alicia was more stunning than I could have imagined and her parents were so proud. Likewise for our handsome groom, Matthew. I was honoured to photograph my last wedding in Warwick, where it all began for me back in 2008. I truly hope you will enjoy the story of these photographs as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Wedding Photography with Sophistication & Fun!

Thanks to Stephen from Grapeshot for having me along to lend a hand on Sophie & Nathan’s wedding in Brisbane which I thought encapsulated wedding photography with sophistication & fun! That was down to the wedding party of course, who needed little coaxing & were really keen to enjoy the experience. I think it shows in their wedding photos gallery which I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I enjoyed taking the photographs! The day started out with a few bubbles complete with strawberries of course and just check out the colour of those bridesmaids’ gowns. Speaking of gowns, the beading on Sophie’s wedding gown was bridal bliss! The gown looks fabulous on Sophie & the girls were on hand for the final touches.

Speaking of colour, these tulips made for a stunning floral wedding display, each one so perfectly formed. Pretty soon the girls were all looking fantastic and ready for a few photographs on the striking staircase at the beautiful family home. The light in the room made for captivating photography of the girls.

Before we knew it the cars had arrived and it was time for Sophie to take a deep breath to calm all her excitement & step out into this majestic day that would be her and Nathan’s to treasure.Meantime, the guys were having their fun back at the hotel. Nathan was calm & collected, looking pretty cool for his photos & it was a scream taking those luggage trolley shots in the foyer!Magnificent St Stephen’s in Brisbane was the setting for their ceremony. Stepping inside the church, the significance of the moment was upon us all and we waited with anticipation, none more than Nathan, for the bride to arrive.It was a heartfelt ceremony filled with love & there were happy tears from family and guests alike. The mood on the front steps was joyful for their wedding group photographs & even ‘Teddy’ wasn’t missing out on having his photo taken.We made our way to Newfarm Park for some memorable artistic photography on that gorgeous afternoon. It was splendid!But could it get better than that? YES! Who knew that right on cue, Brisbane would come to the party with fantastic fireworks on the northern bank of the river! Wow! I just love fireworks. Of all the weddings in the world that day, Brisbane shone for Sophie & Nathan.

Stylish Brisbane Wedding

I’d like to thank Stephen from Grapeshot Studios again for having me along to photograph David & Gillian’s gorgeous Brisbane wedding at the Indooroopilly Golf Club. Glamour was the order of the day for their Stylish Brisbane Wedding and I’m very pleased to be presenting this wedding gallery of their amazing day. The girls were tucked away in their Brisbane riverfront apartment enjoying a leisurely brunch whilst getting ready, with mum and dad to lend their support and enjoy this very special time with their daughter.Gillian’s scoop-back bridal gown was adorned with strikingly glamorous beading which she carried off beautifully and the stylists did a fantastic job, as they invariably do! Gillian’s parents proudly looked on as the girls posed for their photographs. Then it was time for some finishing touches before the girls headed out for some more creative wedding photography.Upon arrival at Indooroopilly Golf Club we found David and the guys quite relaxed and having a laugh. After some last minute practice of how the sand ceremony would be performed, it was time to meet Gillian’s stately arrival in her elegant wedding car. There was time for a few extra photographs and David had to wait just a little longer to see his beautiful bride!A few rain spots weren’t going to stop this intimate outdoor wedding ceremony set under the trees. It was a happy and joyful occasion and the delighted guests couldn’t wait to embrace the newly-wedding couple & congratulate them before heading off for some drinks & canapes.I just love a ride in a golf buggy & hanging on tight whilst taking a few shots along the way makes for some fun! It was an enjoyable breather for the wedding party who had some beautiful shots taken by Stephen and enjoyed a stroll along the green. Then it was time to head on back for their Sumptuous wedding reception. The evening was fabulous with great food, music and of course all the guests who were so glad to share in the joy and emotion of this beautiful wedding day.

Rockin’ Sunshine Coast Wedding Photos Gallery

Thanks again to my dear friend Suz at Soul Photographic Design for asking me along to assist her with Jenna & Tom’s wedding photographs. The wedding photos gallery is just a little bit edgy, with feathers, some black styling and a red mustang! Very cool. As we’ve had such a dreary week in Brisbane, I thought it would be a great idea to post this sunny beach wedding because it’s what we can all look forward to in just a couple of months. Yes, they were blessed with the weather that day and the light on the beach was just stunning for wedding photographs with the sea spray creating amazing light rays from the sun. Couldn’t get enough of that! After our beach photographs, the couple enjoyed travelling to their reception in that very cool car! The Sunshine Coast is full of so many great locations and the setting for their reception was no exception. Once again, the light was exceptional that day with the late afternoon sun painting the clouds bright orange, creating an amazing backdrop & giving everyone a Bali glow! As the sun set, the evening was filled with heartfelt speeches before the guests tore up the dance floor. It was an amazing wedding day for Jenna & Tom.

Sunshine Coast Wedding Photography

It was a stylish and relaxed wedding day in March that I spent with Soul Photographic Design as second-photographer for Sarah and Steve. Sarah was glowing in her elegant gown, with the royal blue feature colour adding pizzazz to the guys attire! With all the business of getting ready on the coast, it was time to take a drive into the hinterland for their Buderim service under a stunning canopy of trees. Fortunately the weather was on our side for their sunshine coast wedding photography. Their ceremony was intimate and touching, included heartfelt speeches and was accompanied by live musicians. After some more photography, it was time to head back to the coast in their Chevrolet cars, pop some champagne and then hit the beach for some romantic time on their own to which our lenses were privy. Afterwards the wedding party got in on the act, mucking around and having a ball with some great results for their photos! The guests were all enjoying themselves when we returned to their cocktail reception for some social photography. They welcomed the newlyweds with open arms and shared in their joy that evening. It was a wonderful day and the smile on the bride and grooms’ faces said it all.

Wedding Photography Brisbane

Nav & Sara’s Ipswich wedding ceremony was so heartfelt, I wanted to include plenty of photographs in this blog. Before I get to that though, the day began by photographing the guys Bayside before heading across town toward Ipswich and meeting up with Sara and her lovely family. Nav & Sara married at the delightful Queens Park, Ipswich. During the ceremony when Sara & Nav were officially pronounced man and wife, Nav kissed her hand which was so beautiful. I later found out that Nav kissed Sara’s hand the first time they met and so it had significant meaning to them. After some fun candid and group photographs with family, we dusted off the wedding umbrellas for a small shower during the formal wedding party photograph! From there, it was a short stroll over to the stunning Japanese gardens for some relaxed artistic photography, then over to the pergoda to capture the view in the late afternoon light. Part of their wedding photography brisbane included a bridal waltz at the reception venue and my assistant found some great Frank Sinatra on my ipod which suited the mood well. The elephants which adorned the reception table and wedding cake were a real surprise and bring good luck to the couple. I’ve recently enjoyed designing their wedding album and they can’t wait to see the finished product – not long now!

Engagement Portraits Brisbane

It’s always so wonderful to photograph a new wedding client’s engagement portraits; the planning is fun and the photography is fun and it’s an exciting prelude to their special day. It’s also quality time for the couple where I can get to know their personalities, likes and dislikes and where they can get to feeling comfortable around me too! My client said they wanted a location that was peaceful and natural by the water for their engagement portraits, so we travelled half an hour over to Redland Bay for their session. We also felt it was a good contrast to their actual wedding photography plan too, providing something different for their image library. The weather was good to us and Nav & Sara really enjoyed having their photography! It’s so lovely to feel the connection between a couple and it’s clear that Sara & Nav are so in love and excited about their wedding next month. I’ve already visited all the locations for their wedding as part of my planning and this made for a wonderfully relaxed afternoon. The Japanese Gardens at Ipswich are going to be just stunning as a key location for their artistic photography on their wedding day – can’t wait!

Warwick Wedding Photography

Photographing a wedding in the morning can present a challenge to any professional photographer. If the couple are lucky enough to have a beautiful sunny day, the photographer needs to produce amazing outdoor photography in a harsh light and strong shadow environment, which can be tricky. Phil & Sharina’s Warwick wedding photography was no exception, with their nuptials timed to coincide with her parents’ 40th anniversary where they were married at the same church, at the same time on the same day – which was very special (see my previous blog). The couple were also hoping to capture some stunning panoramic vistas and a rustic feel. Not to be defeated by a challenge, all their photography locations had been planned in advance and we now just needed the clear day they were blessed with. It was important to work as quickly as possible for the wedding party, so that they were able to retreat to the shade of their vehicles in between locations! The bridesmaids and groomsmen were just as lovely as Phil and Sharina and got into the spirit and fun of the artistic images. Thanks very much to you all for a truly memorable and enjoyable day with you and your families.

Wedding Photography in Warwick

I have to tell you the story of Sharina & Phil’s wedding last Saturday…

They decided to marry on the 40th Anniversary of her parents’ wedding at the exact time, date and location and I was thrilled to be capturing every moment of this happy occasion. The image on the left of Sharina & Phil is an exact replica of the same photograph Kathleen & Barry (pictured at right) had taken at the same time 40 years earlier. On top of it all, the sun shone of this beautiful wedding photography in Warwick on the Southern Downs. It was a touching day, filled with love and sentiment and I thank them again that I was there to photograph their extra-special day.

Sharina & Phil’s Engagement Portraits

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Sharina & Phil a little more during their recent engagement portrait session. Kangaroo Point provided so many beautiful opportunities for our photography and the late afternoon light was the icing on the cake. They are getting married in December and are obviously very busy with all the last minute planning, so the best thing of all was the quality time that they were able to spend together during their shoot – I think they really enjoyed it!
